Vita Nova is the latest release from Gary Davenport on the MuseMyth label. The CD is Gary's first solo recording from 1992 which at the time was only available on cassette. It was a breakaway recording from the years with Red Square and Mannequin musically. No rock this time; the music is varied. From the opening track, Through Childrens' Eyes the music offers a blending of acoustic and orchestrated sounds. A Brazilian influence is apparent in the song Fantasia Nua. Gary was immersed listening to Brazilian music at the time. Also featured is Oracle at Delphi which gives impressions of a soundtrack for an unmade film. Much went in to the production of the entire recording but particularly Oracle. The album was recorded at Walk on Water Studios. Will Willard formerly of Red Square and now with The Gilliam Section co-produced the recording and is instrumental in the recording coming into existence. He plays guitar, bass guitar, and synths throughout. Also is Scott Potter on drums and percussion who played drums with Mannequin and is also now a member of The Gilliam Section.
The CD is available here at the store through MuseMyth or at Hogwild Records in San Antonio or Waterloo Records in Austin.
Gary is currently working on his next album of all new material. The CD/LP is slated for release in the coming year and will be called, The Door Into Summer.
